"When I am making photographs, all of a sudden there
comes a time when I have found the shot; time when I know that
this press of the button, this shot, this image, is the one. I
know that I'll keep this picture when I discard all the others that
I've taken that day. In that moment of excitement, everything
disappears around me except for the small thumbnail that I see in the
viewfinder and I become present to the world's beauty. And in
that moment, I know why I love photography."
- Stephen Barnes
Stephen works entirely in 35mm film. All of
the processing of the black and white prints is done entirely by hand.
The negatives are processed and prints made using traditional silver-halide
darkroom processing. The black and whites are not digitally manipulated.
The color prints are also made from color film negatives.
The prints are made by a professional print shop and are not digitally
manipulated other than to do color, levels, and sharpness correction.
